Review

"You get in that car, girl, you deserve what you get. That one's already marked."

This book has sold me on bug horror, and I am even more convinced that 2025 is going to be the year of eco horror for me!

In Cicada we follow Ash, and her horrible boyfriend named Richie as they get stranded in a creepy town where they are holding a movie festival for a small-town movie called Cicada. Things quickly take a nightmarish turn, and Ash has to fight for her life against the town of Revelation.

I liked Ash and I absolutely hated Richie. It will take a lot for him to not win an award for worst character of the year. I hated him and Tanya wanted us to.

There was plenty of gore, intrigue, and likeable characters to keep me invested in the story and I really enjoyed the ending! The writing flowed and I highlighted plenty of quotes!

Overall fantastic creature feature that I really wish was a movie!

Final Recommendation: Must read if you enjoy bug horror or B horror movies!
